The season draws to a close

Posted By: Tim Duncombe  on June 18th, 2010

The season is now fast drawing to a close so now is a timely reminder for all members to have their tag cards, weigh slips and photos returned to the secretary by the 30th of June, GFCNT PO box 24 Newstead Tas 7250

I am also keen to get hold of any video footage or photos as early as possible that members would like to have included on our end of year highlights disc, if these could be saved to disc or memory stick and sent in to Mountain Designs, 2 Rooke St Devonport, as early as possible I will endeavour to incorporate all I can.

It is also coming up to the time of year for our annual dinner and AGM, both to be held on the same date the 7th of August. The AGM will commence at 5.00 pm at the Argosy Hotel in East Devonport only a short walking distance from the Mersey Yacht Club the venue for this years dinner. Some good news for the AGM is that some refreshments will be provided for those who attend.

On a serious note the club needs new faces and fresh ideas to carry us forward into the 2011 fishing season. the club is in a strong position going forward and we are holding the dinner in Devonport this year to show our North West members we are thinking of them and encourage them to take an interest in the club at all levels.

Some bad news for the club this year is that our secretary is moving on to greener pastures by the sea and our president resigning to pursue other interests. On behalf of the committee and club I would like to thank Christine and Michael for their tireless work and efforts into the running of the club. They have gone above and beyond the call and their work is greatly appreciated.

We also have several other committee members stepping aside this year to pursue other interests so all positions will be declared vacant, Nomination forms are available from the president by phoning 0418 133 388.

So the challenge is on for members to step up and pick up the baton and continue on the traditions of an excellent club with 42 years of history and take it into the future.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the AGM and what promises to be another fantastic night at our end of year dinner.
