The St Helens Classic has been run and won and once again Northern Club members have performed well. Travis Preece from Team Game On took out heaviest fish with a 19 kilo Albacore in a good effort with big models hard to find. Clinton Howe on Runadu 2 took out overall tag and release with 4200 points. Congratulations also to Linda Blazely in her first ever competition taking out heaviest shark Day 1. Competition started slow with a late start due to some unsavoury conditions at the ramp on the first morning but the day improved greatly to some beautiful conditions. Stripeys were plentiful and Albacore were small in size making hard going for the 60 boats entered. The crew on Hammerhead 2 had some excitement with a Marlin swiping at their lures but unfortunately were unable to hook up. Day 2 saw conditions good for the whole day but the fishing story was pretty much the same with another report of a Marlin hooked up but unable to get him to stick. Congratulations to the St Helens Club for a great weekend and lets hope some bigger versions turn up for our upcoming Jones Waste Management Easter Competition bring on them Yellowfin.... Good luck to all our members heading down for The Coles Bay Classic this weekend
