2009 St Helens Classic

The St Helens Classic has been run and won - again by a member of the Northern Game Fish Club. John Farrell fishing aboard Coastal Marine barcrusher cleaned up with his 33kg Blue Fin on 15 kg line. This was the heaviest of a number of fish landed by John and Anthony Wolfe on their boat.
Bradley Hay fishing on the boat Pipedream also won the Junior Section of the Classic. A number of other Northern members picked up prizes.
Seventeen Blue Fin were weighed in for the competition with only two albacore being weighed in. It is the first time for a number of years a Blue Fin has been weighed in on the March long weekend! No yellow fin sighted and Albacore usually abundant off St Helens at this time of the year were very scarce. Perhaps they will be plentiful for the Jones Enviromental Easter Tornament.
