The game fishing season for 2005 is looking like it is going to be a good year. I have heard reports of Yellowfin being sited off flinders island and that these were big fish. The water is around 19°c off ‘Flinders’ and if the n.e. weather continues we should see some early signs off the ‘Shelf’ at St. Helens.
I have heard further reports that bermagui have had some yellowfin tuna up to the 70kg mark. hopefully this is the size that will make it down to tassie. My suggestion to you all is, ‘hang-on!’
Most of the existing club members should have received their club newsletter by now. by receiving the newsletter, it is a reminder that your club fees are now due.
In the newsletter you will have noticed that the committee have changed only a couple of rules and have outlined the clubs fishing boundaries. Please familiarise yourselves with the clubs rules and also the g.f.a.a. rules as to keep the sport of game fishing fair and to make every fish a good clean fight!
On this website you can download entry forms to the clubs tournaments. I plan to have the entire club newsletter available for download so members can pass it on to friends or in the event of losing their original, can obtain another one from this site.
For those of you from outside tasmania and who generally fishing the st. helens game fishing classic, i will also have an entry form for download. In the meantime, if you wish to contact me about tasmania’s biggest game fishing tournament, please email me and i will send you an entry form.
Don’t forget, i will be happy to receive photos of any sort of fishing and will post them on this web site. I think you have seen the pictures of me enough! Please email them to me.
So until next time merry christmas and have a happy new year. Good luck for the 2005 season and may your reels scream.
