Day 1
On 18th of May 2006, Anglers Jason Williams, John Pollard, Duncan Lowry and Clinton Howe on Jason's Boat Animal made the trip out to Pedra Branca. The fishing was fast and furious with Bluefin boated from 60kg up to 90kg.The 90kg caught by Clinton took 1.5 hours on 24kg this fished stay down to the end and wouldn't show itself. With some handy driving from Jason the fish was landed. Most fish were caught in 25 to 45 mins depending on tackle (24kg-37kg).
Once the benchmark was set we went about finding the big one, releasing more as the day went on only to be harassed by the packs of seals witch became a problem to the point of calling it a day at 2pm,losing anymore of these fish to the seals was not a option so we started the long trip back in.
Day 2
19th May 2006, the weather was not as good as the day before but was still ok to make the trip out
We had a plan to boat only a fish that was bigger than the 90kg benchmark set the day before. The fishing was a little slower but the fish average seemed bigger around 80kg,with all of us taken turns on the rod. The charter boats were reporting bust offs on 37kg and 60kg lines but that was because they couldn't move around as tight as the trailer boats, these fish used their mass and stayed close but deep under the boats with the seals on there tail it kept all skippers busy doing circle work and planning of at speed to get a better angle.
As the day before The seals started to follow us before hook-up and waited like vultures at the boat pouncing on the last two 80kg tuna as we de-hooked them for release boat side. It was 1pm with the northerly wind getting stronger swell at around three metres, seals giving every boat a hard time we started the trip back in all of us stuffed but very happy.
