The Game Fishing Club of Northern Tasmania (GFCNT) is a long standing club being established in 1967 with members from the far North West Coast to the North and to the East Coast of Tasmania. With a large membership base which peaked with 220 members in 2006. The Club strives to provide great events, support and resources to club members. The GFCNT prides itself on being a family friendly Club encouraging our junior members in all aspects of the Club and the Game Fishing Environment.
The GFCNT is affiliated with the Tasmania Game Fishing Association (TGFA) and The Game Fishing Association of Australia (GFAA) allowing members’ access to these associations and entry to Competitions State and Australia wide. Our Club, alongside these Associations provides and promotes guidelines and rules for Recreational Fishing. This leads to a sustainable fishing programme and fishing for our future.
The GFCNT hosts a number of competitions for members throughout the season starting with our Early Bird Shark Competition run out of Devonport on the North West Coast in January which has fast become one of our most successful events attracting over 60 boats and over 150 entrants. The remainder of our events are run out of St Helens on Tasmania’s East Coast with competitions running from February till seasons end in June
Meetings are held on a monthly basis and are rotated between Launceston, Devonport and Georgetown.
An Annual dinner is held in August , these are either held in Launceston or Devonport . These nights are highly attended and have always proven to be a success with entertainment for all the family, annual prize presentations and our huge raffle table. A great night for all to catch up following a season of fishing.
